Once the student joins us, we run a 3-week internal assessment done by our special Education teacher and therapists, we meet with the parents to discuss the IEP (Individual Education Plan) that will take place to maximize each student’s academic, social, self-care, emotional, and behavior abilities.
The daily program runs from Monday to Thursday, 8 am – 2:30 pm, and Friday 8 am – 12:00 pm for children and young adults ages 4 to 16 years old. Our classrooms accommodate a maximum of 8 students per class, with a special education teacher, teacher assistant, and one or 2 shadow teachers depending on the need.
The day is split into two parts:
- An academic program that will cover math, English, and social studies…. We follow a mixture of curriculums according to what suits the student best and measure the progress with a worldwide recognized benchmark.
- Functional Skills that focus on individual and social skills, the use of electric appliances and gadgets, IT work, gardening, fine and functional motor skills…
To apply what we learn in the center in the real world, we run Thursday community trips which are optional and payable for all our students. For those who choose not to join, a multiple of fun activities are planned for them to do at the center.
For our older students, we follow the ASDAN program which issues them, worldwide recognized certificates in different domains and careers.
Every semester, the students of the ASDAN class do an Internship in a company, store, or restaurant. We alternate every term to give them the maximum exposure to different careers.
All our students have PE, Art and Music integrated into their weekly program, and 8 of our students (due to limited space) go horseback riding once a week.
Therapies such as ABA (Applied Behaviour Therapist), OT or Speech Therapy are also available according to the student’s needs and parents’ request.
We also have regular volunteers and students from other schools visiting our center to help our students practice their socialization skills.
